In an effort to develop underused sites adjacent to train tracks throughout Switzerland, the SBB identified a potential in Schlieren West and commissioned a land-use plan for the district. Subsequently, a competition was carried out in 2012 in order to study the development potential of the train station.

The site is located directly adjacent to the train station and will encompass two mixed use buildings, as well as an attractive and traffic free open space to enhance the entrance to the station. This project closes the gap in the ongoing urban development along the train tracks. The six-story apartment building and the five-story office building both have retail spaces on the ground floor and are connected by a communal underground parking garage.

We managed the planning team from preliminary design to completion, with a special focus on value engineering.
